Here is my brief bio: Gregg Vesonder is head of the Communication Software Research Department at AT&T Labs-Research and an adjunct professor at Stevens Institute of Technology. Gregg received a B.A. in psychology from the University of Notre Dame and a M.S. and Ph.D. in cognitive psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. He has been working at AT&T Labs (formerly AT&T Bell Labs and formerly, formerly Bell Labs) since 1979 and has been teaching at Stevens since 2002.
Gregg has developed and managed numerous commercial expert systems projects for factories, sales support and telecommunications. He has been involved in research on the application of other artificial intelligence and object oriented techniques to large scale software systems. He has also been involved in Unix and Personal Computing (MS Windows) tool development involving such diverse projects as speech recognition, C++ compiler development, ecommerce (especially in music), data mining and software design and analysis. Gregg was named a Bell Labs Fellow in 1990 for his work on artificial intelligence and was named an AT&T Fellow in 1996.
Gregg lives in Northwestern New Jersey with his terrific wife, Kathy, and his great children, Leah and Matt. He also has a dog, Belle, who flunked obedience school. A real bummer for an ex-Behaviorist!
